UnionPay International has entered into the partnership with Huawei and 4 major banks in Hong Kong and Macau. It means that Huawei Pay is rolling out in the two additional markets.

As a result, Huawei Pay’s users can experience a smooth payment process at merchants accepting UnionPay contactless payments. Nowadays, UnionPay contactless payment service is accepted at over 20 million POS terminals in 47 countries and regions, including more than 50,000 merchants in Hong Kong and Macao.

Besides, the collaboration between UPI and Huawei enables users of Huawei/Honor living in Hong Kong and Macau to add their UnionPay cards issued by ICBC Macau, BNU, BOC Hong Kong and ICBC Asia to the Huawei Wallet app.

According to the statement, the global rollout of Huawei Pay at such a high efficiency can be also attributed to the UPI’s enhanced digital payment service features.

It means that international firms can access the Huawei Pay solution simply by connecting to UPI’s Mobile Payment Service platform (UMPS). The 4 institutions in Hong Kong and Macau launching Huawei Pay are all connected to UMPS.
