Largest Ukrainian bank accepts UnionPay cards

PrivatBank has enabled all the merchants and ATM terminals in its network to accept UnionPay cards. This way, UnionPay cardholders are able to make payments or withdraw cash in the country much easier.

The partnership with PrivatBank enables UnionPay to meet the cross-border payment demands of UnionPay cardholders visiting from China, Belarus, Kazakhstan, South Korea and other tourist source countries of Ukraine.

Earlier in 2018, the National Bank of Ukraine granted a Payment Business License to UnionPay, encouraging local financial institutions to accept and issue UnionPay cards. Now, UnionPay International is enhancing its service capabilities in cooperation with the National Bank of Ukraine.

According to the data, UnionPay card is currently accepted at about 200,000 merchants and 7,000 ATM terminals across Ukraine. Besides, there are more than 150,000 POS terminals supporting UnionPay’s contactless payment solution, QuickPass.
