Nets, a part of the leading European PayTech Nexi Group, has announced the acquisition of orderbird, a leading provider of cloud-based POS systems with integrated payment systems in Europe.

They aim to strengthen orderbird’s offering of integrated payment services to customers in the hospitality industry and to accelerate orderbird’s international growth.

Nets was a long-standing partner and shareholder in orderbird through its German-based digital payment provider Concardis.

The current transaction follows Nets increasing its stake in orderbird in late 2021. The orderbird brand will remain and the company will continue to operate as a separate business unit within Nexi.

In fact, with its many years of experience and broad footprint, Nets / Nexi Group can actively support orderbird in the payment business and help it enter the next phase of its corporate development. Customers, in turn, can look forward to the further optimization of existing payment service offerings and thus an even better customer experience.

The orderbird management team will remain in place after the change in ownership.

Making neighbourhood businesses more successful is what orderbird is all about. One of the reasons our customers are successful is because they are always digitally up to date with us and can use the same technologies as their larger competitors. Joining forces with the Nets / Nexi Group, a recognized European PayTech leader, allows us to take this mission to the next level. This will collectively enhance our business presence in Europe while continuing to provide our customers with the best and most relevant solutions they need today – and tomorrow
Mark Schoen, Chief Executive Officer of orderbird

Nets / Nexi Group, in turn, will benefit from orderbird’s leading expertise in digitally reaching and enabling small and medium-sized businesses coupled with the company’s extensive experience in developing vertically integrated, customer focused SaaS solutions.

We are very pleased to have Nets / Nexi Group as a partner on our side. Especially in view of the accelerating trend towards seamless vertical payment and banking software solutions, this is a landmark deal. With this partnership, it was particularly important to us that we could maintain orderbird's total focus on enhancing our leading propositions and meeting the needs of our customers. This will enable us to fully concentrate on our next goal of expanding vertical software payment capabilities more broadly and establishing orderbird as a force to be reckoned with in the payment services sector
Jakob Schreyer, founder and Chief Strategy Officer of orderbird

This transaction further strengthens Nexi’s suite of propositions and furthers its participation in the broader hospitality value chain.

Together with orderbird, we underline our commitment to the integrated software market, while enhancing our offer to hospitality clients. Our goal is to support European businesses benefit from the rapid digitization of payments, via solutions like orderbird's hospitality-focused SaaS platform, which enhances the customer experience while enabling merchants to run their business more efficiently. We're proud to fully welcome orderbird to the Nexi family as it continues to meet evolving customer preferences in restaurants and beyond across Europe
