Santander is going to announce the results of the blockchain innovation challenge on 14 July. As reported by Finextra, the award ceremony will not only be streamed on YouTube but also take place on the metaverse platform Decentraland.

Around 400 companies from 11 countries entered the challenge to solve Web3 and the metaverse issues. Their ideas centered around improving user privacy and security in blockchain networks, boosting DeFi and tokenisation, and enhancing digital interactions with users.

Judges have already narrowed the top list to 20 finalists: ten start-ups and ten scale-ups. During the virtual ceremony, the panel will name the six challenge winners. Three startups will receive €10,000 each, whereas three winning scaleups each get €30,000.

Lucky winners also get access to Santander X 100, the bank’s community of start-ups. It will connect them to advice and training, capital, customers, talent and networking. In addition, they receive an exclusive NFT designed by Oxentia Foundation.

Viewers that will watch the final on Decentraland will be able to get the branded virtual wearables: a cap and a bracelet that will allow them to customise their Metaverse avatars.
