Rohlík has announced plans to launch in Germany, according to Ecommerce News. The expansion was originally planned for 2025, but the current high demand for online grocery shopping made the start is to bring forward.

According to information, the upcoming launch of Rohlík in Germany means more competition from another supermarket, Picnic. This Dutch supermarket is active in Germany since March 2018 and is slowly but steadily expanding across the country.

During the pandemic, the number of German consumers ordering their groceries online has increased. As a result, delivery slots became fully booked for weeks at grocery delivery services. Nevertheless, online food trade has benefited from high demand.

We’ve reported that Picnic has opened its second fulfillment center in Herne, Germany. Dutch supermarket has been working to adapt its logistics to the increased demand the coronavirus is currently spreading across Europe.
