According to Ecommerce News, Latvijas Pasts, the state-owned postal service provider from Latvia is building a network of home parcel lockers in Latvia. The network will be open to all logistics service providers and consists of lockers created by Cleveron, an Estonian tech company.

The lockers, which will be installed starting next month, accept mail, parcels and groceries and are operated via a mobile app.

According to Gatis Ģērmanis, CEO of SIA Mailmaster, a Latvijas Pasts subsidiary that will implement the home delivery service, the network is the result of thinking about how items can be delivered to customers in the most convenient way.

Thanks to the size of the lockers, consumers can receive virtually any postal or couriers items, parcels and groceries. According to Ģērmanis, it’s possible to put 44 standard-size shoe boxes or five fully filled large standard food bags in the locker.

We’ve reported that Dutch omnichannel retailer opens first physical store in Germany.
