Facebook will allow its users to transfer their Facebook photos and videos directly to other services like Google Photos. The company says that the photo transfer tool has been developed after numerous conversations with international stakeholders from the UK and Germany to Brazil and Singapore.

Ireland will be the first country to test the photo transfer tool which is based on code developed through collaboration with the open-source Data Transfer Project.

Due to privacy regulations, all transferred data will be encrypted, which means users will be asked to enter their password before a transfer is initiated.

To access the new tool, users will need to tap on ‘Your Facebook Information’.
