Google announced the acquisition of Pointy, an Irish company that helps thousands of retailers bring their product inventory online.

Small merchants find it challenging to get their in-store inventory data online in an easy way, along with being able to reliably update it.

Thanks to Pointy, merchants can simply plug a small box into their barcode scanner or install the Pointy app on their point of sale system.  It surfaces the products they sell directly into the “See what’s in store” section of their business profile on Google Search. Google considers Pointy as one of its key partners, helping thousands of merchants display data within Google.
