Bazaarvoice, a company that offers solutions for product reviews and other user-generated content, has acquired Influenster. This is a product discovery and reviews platform with almost 6 million users worldwide, according to Ecommerce News.

Influenster’s online platform is based on a global community of members that have written over 38 million product reviews. Every day they create about 50,000 pieces of content, such as photos, videos and Q&A. The company has partnered with brands such as Procter & Gamble and Coty to run product sampling campaigns, generate reviews and build brand awareness.

According to Joe Davis, CEO of Bazaarvoice, the acquisition of Influenster underscores his company’s commitment to connecting brands with consumers and consumers with other consumers, all through user-generated content.

Influenster’s product sampling and review generation offerings further strengthen our core product ratings and reviews solutions, and their hyper-targeting and gamification capabilities will allow us to better support our customers’ broader marketing initiatives

Bazaarvoice’s recent Shopper Experience Index found that best-in-class companies who make user-generated content available to shoppers saw an average 137% conversion increase and a 157% growth in revenue-per-visitor.

Aydin Acar and Elizabeth Scherle, founders of Influenster, will remain responsible for key functions at Influenster, while the integrated offerings will be available in Europe later this fall.
