Uber has joined a partnership with AU10TIX to launch new measures for customers who pay via cash.

The authentication and verification program will be used to uphold the identity of cash-paying clients. The platform also leverages proprietary technology on AU10TIX to enhance trust among drivers and riders.

The platform’s users who wish to pay using cash will need to scan a reputable personal identification document such as passports, national ID, driver’s license, or voting credentials.

This comes as the need for additional measures arises in riders and drivers as reassurance for cash payment options. AU10TIX identity verification program provides the much-required efficiency, scalability, and reliability. It will also be a source of peace to the users while taking rides.

This launch sets the space for an expansion in other countries. It also shows that identity proofing can influence a customer’s payment option.

The partnership is a representation of what the future holds for adaptive identity verification.

We’ve reported that smart Government ID credentials’ shipments are set to drop to 547.5 million in 2020 from 617.6 million in 2019 due to COVID-19.
