Youngsters 16 and 21 years old traveling in Scotland can now add a pass for free bus travel to their physical National Entitlement Card Young Scot NEC smartcard.

They can do that by using Transport Scotland’s Pass Collect app.

Once downloaded, users can add the pass to their smartcard by holding it against their NFC-supported smartphone.

The National Entitlement Card is Scotland’s National smartcard, offering access to many public services across the country. The NEC might be recognised as a bus pass, library card or Young Scot card, however this one card may be able to grant access to multiple other services as well.

You can apply for your NEC, or replace your card here.
