Nubank Secures Naming Rights to Latin America’s Largest Arena in Major Sports Push

Brazil’s largest private bank and LatAm’s largest sports and entertainment arena will now always go hand in hand, as Nubank is exercising its naming rights over Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras venue managed by WTorre.

Nubank Secures Naming Rights to Latin America's Largest Arena in Major Sports Push

The exclusive agreement between WTorre and Nu gives the latter control over new brand identity for the region’s most popular multi‑purpose arena able to host up to 55,000 people at a time.

The numbers behind the epicenter of Brazilian sport, entertainment, and culture are impressive:

  • in 2025, the arena brought together 1.1 million spectators at 33 concert events;
  • in all 10 years of operation, the venue hosted 17.7 million people in 2,339 events;
  • more than 400 events held at Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras had more than 40,000 spectators.

A venue of this scale gives Nubank constant visibility among diverse multi-million audience shaped by common passion, rather than typical targeting criteria like generations or income levels. This is exactly the kind of reach a consumer-facing fintech needs to keep growing. When people say football is part of Brazil’s identity, they’re not exaggerating. Brazil’s football ecosystem is deeply-rooted in the national culture. It has long drawn sponsors for this very reason: the sport does not just entertain, it shapes how people see brands that align with it.

  • Roughly 68-70% of Brazilians consider themselves football fans;
  • With a population of about 210-215 million, that equals roughly 140-150 million people;
  • Music and entertainment is also deeply embedded in local daily life of the “carnival” country. About 25–40% of Brazilians (50-80 million people) attend at least one live music event per year.

“We are experiencing a unique moment. Today, Nubank serves more than 113 million people in Brazil and is the largest private financial institution in the country in number of customers. Bringing our brand to a sporting and cultural space of this importance reaffirms our commitment to the country where it all began and brings us even closer to the passions of Brazilians,” says Livia Chanes, CEO of Nubank Brazil. “Taking on this physical stage reflects our evolution. We want to bring the ‘Nubank way’ into the arena, ensuring that the fan is the true protagonist of this new chapter.”

There is also a crowd-pleasing wrinkle to the announcement. Rather than simply imposing a new name, Nubank is inviting the public to pick it. Fans can vote between three options: Nubank Parque, Nubank Arena, or Parque Nubank at nubank.com.br/vote until April 30. Everyone who takes part will see their own name displayed at the arena during the changeover period, before the winning title is revealed in early May.

Besides rebranding, the venue will undergo complete visual transformation and several new locations, such as Nubank Ultravioleta Lounge, an exclusive space with a privileged view of the arena, and the Portão Nubank Ultravioleta, a gate that will provide access to the VIP boxes.

As for the fintech part, the corporate announcement vaguely states that venue visitors should expect certain “benefits” along with embedded or interactive experiences, but doesn’t provide any details on that. Marcelo Frazão, Vice President of WTorre Entertainment, mentions that the venue will “become more technological” but doesn’t proceed with explanations. One can suppose the digital banking giant may offer some kind of payment perks, discounts, or streamlined checkout experiences for Nubank cardholders and app users at the venue. However, none of this is confirmed at present. It seems that the institution needs some time to study the challenges and opportunities brought by this unique location.

“From now on, we will delve into the operation to understand how our culture of innovation can contribute to the daily lives of those who frequent the venue, removing complexities and raising the standard of entertainment and convenience. We want to combine our approach to technology and design with the scale of an arena that is already part of the emotional memory of millions of Brazilians,” says Juliana Roschel, Vice President of Marketing at Nubank.

The São Paulo deal slots into a bigger picture. Nubank has already put its name on Inter Miami CF’s ground in the United States (now Nu Stadium), and locked in a multi-year deal with the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula 1 team. The pattern is clear: the fintech is betting that planting its flag in sport’s most-watched moments is the fastest route from regional giant to genuine global name.
