Alipay has launched a new AI Pay service that lets AI agents make purchases and complete payments based on user instructions.
These OpenClaw-type AI agents, sometimes called “lobsters” in China, can act on behalf of users. The service does not require coding or complex setup. It includes multi-layer security checks for each transaction, aiming to keep payments safe.
This update builds on Alipay AI Pay, an AI-based payment system introduced in 2025. It allows users to complete transactions using voice commands, without switching between apps or pages.
As of February 2026, Alipay AI Pay has reached over 100 million users. During the week of February 5-11, 2026, it processed more than 120 million transactions.
The new feature expands these capabilities by allowing AI agents to make payments with user approval. To use it, users install Alipay AI Pay into their AI agent and enable the payment function. Identity verification is required. The new service is now pre-installed on Alibaba Cloud’s JVS Claw and has been rolled out on the DTClaw of Ant Group Digital Technologies. Alipay AI Pay is also available to other OpenClaw-type AI agents, including Claude Code and Hermes Agent, via easy installation.
After setup, the process works in three steps:
- The user gives an instruction (for example, “renew my membership”)
- The agent prepares the order
- The user confirms and authorizes payment
Users can also change or cancel orders at any time with a simple command.

Security is built into each part of the new service. Users must activate it themselves and complete identity checks. Every payment needs user approval. A 24/7 risk control system monitors transactions. Alipay also extends its Full Compensation protection program to this service.
As agentic commerce grows in China, Alipay AI Pay is being used in more places. This includes AI agents in apps and mini programs for brands like Luckin Coffee, AI smart glasses from Rokid, and AI apps such as Qwen. It now also supports OpenClaw-type AI agents.
Alongside the consumer service, Alipay introduced new tools for developers:
- Payment MCP Server: lets developers connect payment services to AI agents using natural language
- Payment Integration Skill: helps integrate payments into apps with simple commands
- AI Tipping: allows users to send tips to AI agents
- AI subscription payment: supports usage-based or time-based payments
These tools are designed to support AI payments and agent-based commerce, and are among the first of their kind in China.
