Canadian Tangerine Bank has teamed up with Visa to give its chequing clients an option to pay with Visa Debit.

The report states that Tangerine chequing clients will be able to pay for online and cross-border purchases directly from their chequing accounts.  This way,  the clients will get more control over their spending.

Visa Debit’s vast network will be available to Tangerine chequing clients beginning this fall.

In addition, Visa Debit can be used for in-app purchases and for popular rideshare and food delivery apps.

We take pride in listening to our clients, and this is something they've told us they want, so we're thrilled to bring it to them with some fun twists, like the option to choose between two card designs. This new offering will allow our clients to get more from debit – enhancing our already great chequing account with new features that bring them more value, added convenience, and security when making online purchases or paying bills

The fact that Visa Debit will be processed over Visa’s network means the protection of Visa’s multiple layers of security. That would help to reduce risk through continuous fraud monitoring.

We’ve reported that UnionPay launched its digital bank card together with commercial banks, major mobile phone manufacturers, and key merchants and payment institutions. The process of card application and collection is completely digitalized.
