According to ComputerWeekly.com, the EU is exploring the possibility of implementing a COVID-19 vaccination passport to revive the shattered travel and tourism sector.
The development of the so-called Digital Green Pass was teased by European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen in a series of tweets on 1 March 2021.
We’ll present this month a legislative proposal for a Digital Green Pass. The aim is to provide:
•Proof that a person has been vaccinated
•Results of tests for those who couldn’t get a vaccine yet
•Info on COVID19 recoveryIt will respect data protection, security & privacy

She said the aim was to demonstrate proof that someone has received a COVID-19 vaccination, the results of rapid Covid-19 tests for people who have been unable to receive a vaccine yet, and information on COVID-19 recovery.
Von der Leyen highlighted that this move would gradually enable people to move safely in the European Union or abroad.
The proposals come following moves already taken by some EU countries.
We’ve reported that Denmark and Sweden will soon introduce such passports.
