According to Ecommerce News, nearly 5,500 new online stores were registered in Poland during the first half of 2020. Meanwhile, 2,000 got shut down.

The decreasing number of physical stores across the country has been visible for years. In the first half of 2020, there were 257,000 stores. In 2009 however, there were more than 371,000 stores in Poland.

The report reveals that consumption in Poland is growing. For instance, retail sales increased by 8.4% month on month in June.

The Central Statistical Office in Poland states the share of e-commerce in total retail has dropped by 7.7% in June, compared to May. Meanwhile, the share of e-commerce in total sales has permanently reached the 10% mark, although in February it was 5.6%.

The study forecasts that Polish e-commerce will grow by over 30% and even exceed the 100 billion złoty mark in 2020. This way, e-commerce in Poland could be worth more than €22.73 billion in 2020.

We’ve reported that e-commerce in Thailand is registering a compound annual growth rate of 12.2% between 2016 and 2020 to reach 1.1 trillion baht in 2020.
