Visa partnered with local agri-fintech Tingo Mobile to improve access to digital payments and financial services and drive financial inclusion across Africa
Visa and agri-fintech Tingo Mobile announced their strategic partnership within the broader pan-African framework to drive financial inclusion across the continent.
Tingo Mobile is one of Africa’s leading agri-fintech companies that offers a comprehensive ‘one-stop shop’ solution. Its proprietary platform empowers marketplaces to enable subscribers/farmers to manage airtime top-ups, utility and service bill payments, and access to insurance services and microfinance to support their value chain from ‘seed to sale’.
The launch of the Tingo Visa card will supplement the new TingoPay Super App and the TingoPay business portal, opening significant global opportunities to Tingo’s subscribers. The new solutions will enable secure cashless payments at over 61 million merchants in 200+ countries through Visa’s global network.
Customers across Africa can use their Tingo Visa card in-app to make digital transactions in multiple currencies. The Super App users can also manage their cards, set up repeat payments and access transaction statements. The combination of the Tingo Visa card, super app and e-wallet allows local farmers to use their digital money easily and securely for both online and offline payments anywhere Visa is accepted.
Besides, TingoPay’s users can avail of numerous value-added services, such as the ability to pay utilities and bills, top-up airtime and data, make funds and forex transfers, apply for loans, arrange pensions, purchase insurance products, make travel bookings and access the Nwassa agricultural produce marketplace.
