AI Commerce Gains Momentum With New Developments From Worldpay, Checkout.com, GNOMI and Digi Power X

Agentic AI commerce is moving from concept to infrastructure. Over the last few days, four separate announcements show how payments, market intelligence, platform tooling, and compute capacity are being aligned to let AI agents discover, decide, and pay on behalf of people.

AI Commerce Gains Momentum With New Developments From Worldpay, Checkout.com, GNOMI and Digi Power X

Worldpay published a publicly available Model Context Protocol server to help developers connect AI agents to payment flows. The toolset is intended to make it easier to build agentic payment integrations that reach Worldpay’s APIs and global processing footprint. That open approach aims to lower technical barriers for merchants and developers who want to experiment with AI-driven checkout experiences.

Checkout.com announced it will adopt the Agentic Commerce Protocol backed by OpenAI. The company says supporting ACP will allow AI agents, including those embedded in platforms like ChatGPT, to perform discovery and complete purchases while preserving merchant control over fulfillment, identity checks and fraud protection. Checkout.com frames the move as preparing merchants for a new AI commerce channel.

GNOMI introduced Finance Mode, a live, multilingual market intelligence layer that pairs real time earnings calls, instant transcripts and generative summaries. The product highlights how agentic features can go beyond payments to deliver action-ready market signals, enabling users to listen, ask questions and act quickly on financial events. This underlines a wider trend: agents will not only shop, they will also source and interpret information in real time.

Meanwhile Digi Power X reported a profitable quarterly result and signalled investment plans to build AI-ready data centre capacity and GPU as a service offerings in 2026. The financial turnaround and stated build roadmap point to growing investment in compute and infrastructure that underpins large scale agentic applications and high intensity model inference.

Taken together, these developments show the four pillars of agentic commerce coming into view. Payment rails and open protocols are being published. Merchant processors are adopting standards that let agents pay. AI platforms are adding real time, action oriented intelligence. And infrastructure providers are readying the compute that those agents will need.

Each announcement by itself matters. Together they suggest the industry is building the plumbing needed for AI agents to operate at scale while raising the questions about trust, security and merchant readiness that will decide how fast adoption follows.
