Amazon has announced a new slate of artificial intelligence platforms, known as foundation models, which, among other things, allow users to generate text materials, images, and videos.
The mentioned slate of AI platforms was announced at the annual Amazon Web Services (AWS) conference in Las Vegas, on Tuesday, December 3. The new products enhance the company’s ability to compete with Meta and Adobe, which are looking to serve customers who want to automate more services.
Amazon chief executive officer Andy Jassy personally announced the new Nova models of artificial intelligence. According to him, in this case, the developers had a list of desires, prompting the new services.
It is worth noting that the December premiere is a significant move by Amazon forward in the artificial intelligence industry. The company had been caught flat-footed in the development of AI apps because competitors sped ahead.
Rohit Prasad, Amazon’s head of artificial general intelligence, said the company would compete with rivals on price and capabilities.
The company stated that its Nova Reel software allows users to generate six-second videos, which can be useful, for example, for displaying products on the Amazon website. Videos up to two minutes long will be available in the coming months.
Also on Tuesday, Amazon announced that it had developed a Canvas for generating images based on short text prompts. Andy Jassy emphasized that the company would include watermarking to ensure the software is used responsibly to prevent harmful content from being spread.
Other functional offerings from Amazon, announced on Tuesday, are designed to speed up the processing and analysis of text materials. Also in the foreseeable future, the company intends to introduce an artificial intelligence model that can take in text, images, speech, and video and produce any of those.
Moreover, Andy Jassy said that in the coming months will be the debut the version of the Alexa speech assistant revamped with machine intelligence. According to media reports, the implementation of the relevant project faced delays due to concerns about the accuracy and speed of answers.
