Apple Presents iOS 18

Apple on Monday, September 16, presented a new version of the operating system for the iPhone called iOS 18.

Apple Presents iOS 18

The mentioned product of the specified technology giant includes several new security and privacy features. It is worth noting that the next version of the operating system was presented a week after the debut of the new generations of the iPhone, AirPods, and Apple Watch.

One of the new solutions in iOS 18 is a separate app for storing user passwords. In the past, users of Apple devices could store passwords in iCloud Keychain. Experts cited by the media claim that a separate app simplifies access to the mentioned confidential information.

Also, the new version of the operating system includes a tool that allows you to block or hide certain apps at the user’s discretion. At the same time, this feature does not apply to basic functional apps. The new tool is useful because sometimes users hand over their smartphones to friends or family members. These actions are performed to show, for example, photos. In such cases, the user does not always want the other person to have full access to their device. Apps can be blocked and unlocked with Face ID, or Touch ID, if available. The device passcode can also be used for this purpose.

Also, iOS 18 provides the ability to more accurately determine which contacts users intend to share access to. Within this solution, the consumer can block access to all contacts, extend such a ban to only some, or provide general access.

Moreover, within iOS 18, Apple device owners can see, at a glance, how many apps have access to data like location services, tracking, calendars, files and folders, contacts, and health information.
