AWS Introduces Anthropic AI Models on Amazon Bedrock

The new Anthropic Claude 3 models now available on Amazon Bedrock can help global businesses automate tasks, create new user-facing applications, and accelerate research and development across various sectors.

AWS Introduces Anthropic AI Models on Amazon Bedrock

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced that Anthropic’s Claude 3 state-of-the-art artificial intelligence (AI) models will be available on the Amazon Bedrock platform. The newly introduced products should enhance the customers’ ability to rapidly test, build, and deploy generative AI applications across their organizations.

The Claude 3 family of models include several versions: Claude 3 Opus, Claude 3 Sonnet, and Claude 3 Haiku. These vision-enabled products can be leveraged to automate tasks, create new user-facing applications, and accelerate research and development tasks.

The startup states that Claude 3 Opus, the most intelligent of the new models, outperforms other models available on the market today — including OpenAI’s GPT-4 — in terms of reasoning, math, and coding.

According to Daniela Amodei, President of Anthropic, the new AI models presented by the startup on March 4 use new configurations of artificial intelligence to address the so-called ‘hallucination problem’ when AI chatbots offer users unrealistic answers.  The startup claims that Claude 3 models are twice as likely to offer consumers the right answers to their questions and less likely to fictionalize anything.

Amazon Bedrock offers customers secure, easy access to a wide selection of high-performing, fully managed large language models (LLMs) and other foundation models (FMs). Amazon and Anthropic announced their long-term strategic collaboration last year. Therefore, the Amazon Bedrock service already allows its clients to build their generative AI applications with earlier versions of Anthropic’s Claude technology.

The introduction of brand-new AI products by Anthropic on the Amazon Bedrock platform further empowers AWS customers with increased model choices to develop their own customised generative AI applications that drive innovation and reinvent end-user experiences.

Claude 3 family is available for global organizations of all sizes, across virtually every industry, to test, build, and scale AI-powered applications, from complex reasoning and nuanced content creation to scientific queries, math, and coding. Besides, the new models are able to understand non-English languages (including Spanish, Japanese, and French), which make them convenient to use in multi-cultural working environments.

The first model to launch on Amazon Bedrock is Claude 3 Sonnet, which offers the best combination of skills and speed among the new model set, with Opus and Haiku coming in the next weeks. Claude 3 Haiku, is designed to be the fastest and one of the most affordable compact models on the market available today for its intelligence category. Opus, in its turn, has the highest power level.
