Bank of America Reports 30 Billion Digital Client Interactions in 2025 as AI and Mobile Usage Grow

The bank reported growth across several digital channels, reflecting broader industry trends toward mobile banking, automated financial alerts and artificial intelligence-driven services.

Growth in logins and alerts

According to the bank’s data, customers logged into their accounts 16.6 billion times in 2025, marking a 15% increase year over year. At the same time, the number of proactive digital alerts – notifications designed to provide real-time updates about account activity, reached 13.3 billion, up 12% compared with 2024.

More than 38 million clients subscribed to these alerts, which typically include notifications about spending activity, account balances and payment reminders.

Digital engagement now extends across much of the bank’s customer base. Bank of America reported that 81% of consumer and small-business households, 86% of wealth management clients, and 86% of global banking clients are using its digital channels.

Expansion of AI-driven services

Artificial intelligence tools are also playing a growing role in digital banking interactions. Bank of America said its AI-powered virtual assistant Erica recorded nearly 700 million interactions in 2025, with 20.6 million users engaging with the tool.

Since its launch in 2018, Erica has facilitated more than 3.2 billion client interactions, according to the bank. The assistant is designed to help customers manage routine financial tasks, including tracking spending, reviewing transactions and receiving personalized financial insights.

Digital payments continue to expand

The bank also reported increasing usage of digital payment platforms among both consumer and business customers.

The peer-to-peer payments service Zelle reached 25 million active users among Bank of America clients in 2025. During the year, those users sent and received 1.8 billion transactions worth $556 billion, representing 16% growth in transaction volume and 18% growth in value compared with the previous year.

Small business customers also increased their use of the platform. According to the bank, they completed more than 200 million Zelle transactions totaling $126 billion, reflecting 20% growth in transaction count and 23% growth in value year over year.

The bank also introduced additional features for small businesses, including the ability to receive payments through QR codes and Zelle tags, which allow businesses to identify themselves to customers without sharing sensitive account information.

Corporate clients increase mobile payment approvals

Digital adoption is also expanding among corporate clients. Bank of America said its CashPro platform, which provides payment and treasury services for businesses operating in more than 145 jurisdictions, recorded a 20% increase in mobile sign-ins in 2025.

Corporate users approved a record $1.2 trillion in payments via the CashPro mobile app, representing 15% growth compared with the previous year. The bank said the volume equates to roughly $38,000 in payment approvals per second during the year.

Financial planning tools gain traction

Beyond everyday banking activity, the company also reported increased use of digital tools aimed at long-term financial planning.

Its Life Plan platform, launched in 2020 to help customers set and track financial goals, has generated 21.5 million planssince its introduction. In 2025, more than 3 million users selected Spanish as their preferred language, representing about 15% of Life Plan users.

Bank of America said clients using the Life Plan tool collectively increased their assets held with the bank by more than $211 billion.

Industry recognition

The bank also highlighted several industry rankings for its digital platforms in 2025, including top positions in mobile banking and online banking scorecards published by organizations such as J.D. Power, Keynova Group, and Forrester.

Overall, the figures reflect the continued shift toward digital channels in banking, with customers increasingly relying on mobile apps, automated alerts and AI-powered tools to manage both everyday finances and long-term financial planning.
