Billtrust, which has been modernizing accounts receivable processes throughout the order-to-cash cycle for over 20 years, has enhanced the Collections solution within its Unified AR Platform to streamline and modernize the collection process for B2B finance teams with advanced agentic AI capabilities.

Collections is an AI-powered accounts receivable module that transforms the traditional AR collections process into a strategic, customer‑centric, automated workflow. The solution:

  • automatically generates daily task lists with priorities set based on AI analysis of payment behavior and overdue status;
  • sends customizable reminder emails and follow-up communications;
  • leverages predictive analytics to forecast customer payment behavior and cash flow fluctuations;
  • features KPIs like Collections Effectiveness Index (CEI) and anomaly detection powered by its Autopilot module;
  • offers integrated dispute management and proactive risk identification toos, and more.

With the new agentic AI integrations, the AR platform receives Agentic Email, Cases (Dispute Management), Credit Review, and Collections Analytics features.

Agentic Email – handles email inbox with AI assistance, intelligently recognizing tasks, summarizing context, compiling relevant documentation, and generating draft responses. The agent-prepared communications should then just be reviewed by human employees for quality and compliance, which delivers 10× faster email resolution.

Cases (Dispute Management) – automatically records, tracks, and pauses disputes raised in the client portal. The system manages disputes centrally and removes them from regular payment reminders until they’re resolved, thus avoiding errors and keeping cash flow on track.

Credit Review – brings together credit and collections teams in a unified interface, enabling continuous monitoring, adjusting limits, and launching risk-based interventions.

Collections Analytics – provides real-time visibility into key performance indicators such as the Collections Effectiveness Index (CEI) and Average Days Delinquent (ADD), with granular insights by portfolio, buyer, and collector, and automated anomaly detection via Billtrust Autopilot.

The update enables a proactive approach to what once was a reactive, manual process laden with human-driven mistakes and payment delays. The new advanced AI tools not only automate many parts of the process but also provide AR teams with informed decision-making tools so that they can operate based on live data and trends instead of spreadsheets or gut feelings.
