Capital.com Secures MAS License to Expand to Singapore

The trading platform Capital.com is about to launch its first licensed operations in Southeast Asia. The firm, which processes roughly $3.5 trillion in customer trades, is exploring the new region having gotten a license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).

The regulator granted the ten-year-old company the right to provide its customers with capital markets product services. Those are, for example, securities and over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives contracts. Client onboarding for Capital.com in Singapore will start in early 2027. For now, the local team is preparing the platform to meet applicable regulatory and operational requirements, including identity verification through Singpass MyInfo – Singapore’s government-backed digital identity and personal-data sharing service.

The new entity (Capital Com Securities (Singapore) Pte. Ltd.) will be headed by CEO and Executive Director Tony Lim. Lim has three decades of experience in the local capital market. Throughout his career, he worked at Singapore International Monetary Exchange (SIMEX), Singapore Exchange, DBS Vickers Securities, Saxo Capital Markets, and IG Asia.

“Our focus over the coming months is on getting the foundations right, from onboarding and client protections to the education and market insight that help people understand risk before they act. We intend to contribute to Singapore’s ecosystem through the relationships we build with regulators, educators and the industry, and through the quality of the decisions our clients are able to make.”

The company’s clients in Singapore will have access to the same service suite as the platform’s wider customer base across the UK, the EU, the Middle East, Africa and Australia. These include decision-support tools, analysis, in-app explainers on how instruments and risk mechanisms work, charting tools for building an independent view, and risk-management controls such as stop-loss orders.

The capital market of Singapore is among the top and most stable financial centers in Asia. The jurisdiction has high liquidity levels along with strict regulatory framework resulting in significant prominence in the region for investors and companies. The Singapore dollar (SGD) and FX bond markets are highly attractive for issuers and financial institutions globally. Besides regular securities, 75% of the city-state’s high-net-worth and professional investors already own tokenized assets.
