The new Coinbase Wallet web app enables users to connect multiple self-custodial wallets and access all their onchain assets, including crypto, NFTs, and DeFi positions, in one place.
The crypto exchange Coinbase launched a new website wallet app accessible on both desktop and mobile devices. Coinbase Wallet offers a unified interface for various operations with digital assets, including swapping, minting, messaging, paying, buying, and transferring NFTs, crypto and DeFi assets.
The new crypto wallet version allows users to access their crypto portfolios from multiple platforms in a single place. The fresh launch complements another recent introduction of the Coinbase smart wallet. This update of the exchange’s classic wallet product simplifies onboarding, eliminates network fees, and removes recovery phrases. Besides, smart wallet offers multi-chain support and integration with major applications.
The website wallet app is also a continuation of Coinbase’s ongoing efforts to bring more users onchain. Since 2023, for instance, the crypto exchange has been offering a new Wallet-as-a-Service tool for businesses to seamlessly onboard their users to Web3.
With the latest update, Coinbase users will be able to connect any self-custodial wallet supported by Wallet Connect, e.g. MetaMask and Phantom wallets, and get an aggregated view of digital assets across multiple applications. Furthermore, users don’t even need to have a Coinbase wallet to use the new service.
The connected wallets may be used to trade over 2 million tokens across 8 different chains: Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, BSC, Polygon, Avalanche, and Solana.
The new web app also has a dedicated portal for smart wallets and special features like free, gasless transactions on select mints, creator and minting tools, and the ability to pay directly from one’s Coinbase account onchain using MagicSpend.
