FreedomPay Expands to Spain After Redsys Certification

FreedomPay has reached an important milestone of getting integrated certification from Redsys, a Spanish payments processing provider, which enables the company to offer its commerce platform to Spanish merchants.

FreedomPay Expands to Spain After Redsys Certification

FreedomPay fintech, which offers an integrated, omnichannel payments and loyalty solution, has announced that its commerce platform is now available for all businesses in Spain after the company obtained certification from Redsys, the leading local payment processing provider.

The solution offered by FreedomPay may be leveraged in various industries such as hospitality, retail, food and beverages, stadiums, casinos or ticket sales.

Launched in 2009, the FreedomPay Commerce Platform has been constantly developing to include mobile payment capabilities, high-level security, incentive technologies, and business intelligence that integrates with live POS systems.

In addition to allowing mobile payments through the use of QR codes, the linked mobile app features targeted incentives, replaces loyalty cards, and provides access to electronic copies of receipts. Moreover, partner merchants can see detailed business reports online in real time, getting insights into their retail practices and the effectiveness of individual offers and programs.

In 2014, FreedomPay also earned PCI validation for its point-to-point encryption solution (P2PE).

The platform has over 1,000 integrations with point-of-sale and e-commerce software providers, creating an advanced omnichannel experience for consumers whether in-store, online or mobile.

“The needs of businesses and consumers are constantly changing and at FreedomPay we seek to always stay at the forefront with solutions that respond to new demands. Spain is a strategic market for us and this alliance with Redsys will allow us to join forces to improve the payment experience of businesses throughout the country.”

César Diez, VP and head of FreedomPay in Spain

The certification of Redsys is meaningful for FreedomPay, as the most popular Spanish payment processing provider certifies the quality, security, interoperability and functionality of fintech products and payment system devices. Redsys manages transactions and authorizations in collaboration with more than 60 banks, savings banks and credit institutions, boasting the widest payment network in the country.

Expanding its commerce capabilities to Spain is part of FreedomPay’s extensive expansion plans. The company currently operates in more than 75 countries on five continents.

In 2021, the company integrated its platform with BNPL provider Klarna, to enable US merchants to offer Klarna’s flexible, interest-free payment solutions at checkout in-store.
