Fundamental’s NEXUS AI Model Now Available as a First-Party Offering on AWS

One of the freshest AI tech unicorns on the market, Fundamental is partnering with Amazon’s AWS for distributing its core solution – NEXUS model.

Fundamental’s NEXUS AI Model Now Available as a First-Party Offering on AWS

AI startup Fundamental has announced that its large tabular model, NEXUS, is now available directly as a first-party offering on Amazon Web Services (AWS). The announcement was confirmed by Matt Garman, Chief Executive Officer of AWS, underscoring the strategic partnership between the cloud provider and the emerging AI company.

Making NEXUS a first-party offering means that AWS customers can purchase and deploy the model directly through the AWS console and billing system, in the same way they would provision compute or storage services. This integration simplifies procurement and deployment for enterprises that already use AWS infrastructure, reducing the need to manage separate vendor contracts or move sensitive data outside their cloud environment.

Fundamental, founded in October 2024, specializes in applying deep learning to structured (tabular) data — the rows and columns typical of enterprise databases, which traditional large language models (LLMs) struggle to handle efficiently. Its NEXUS model is designed to process petabytes of such data to support forecasting, predictive analytics, and other decision-making use cases in sectors like finance, healthcare and energy.

The company has just announced a $255 million funding round that values it at about $1.2 billion, with backing from investors including Oak HC/FT, Battery Ventures and Salesforce Ventures. NEXUS has already been contracted by multiple Fortune 100 firms.

The AWS partnership is reported to be non-exclusive, meaning Fundamental could later support other cloud platforms such as Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure. By hosting NEXUS as a first-party service on AWS, organizations concerned about security and compliance can run the model within AWS’s secure, scalable infrastructure.

AWS CEO Garman has highlighted the company’s continued focus on expanding AI and machine-learning capabilities on its platform. Under his leadership, AWS has pursued various AI collaborations and expanded its suite of services that let customers deploy models and data workloads at scale.
