Juspay Partners With Recurly, Connecting Hundreds PSPs to Subscription Billing

Juspay has partnered with Recurly to integrate its open-source payment orchestration platform, Hyperswitch, into Recurly’s subscription management offering. The partnership gives Recurly merchants access to more than 300 payment service providers and acquirers through a single integration.

Subscription businesses face a recurring problem: failed payments. A declined card, an expired payment method, or a routing issue can end a subscription that would otherwise have continued. Involuntary churn of this kind erodes recurring revenue even when the underlying customer relationship is intact. Improving payment success rates has become a priority for merchants operating subscription models at scale.

For the context, Recurly’s own 2026 State of Subscriptions report, published in January 2026 and based on data from 76 million subscribers and 2,200 merchants, estimated that failed payments put $129 billion in potential revenue at risk across the subscription industry in 2025. The same report found that recovery tools helped the software industry reclaim more than $155 million of that lost revenue in 2025, with digital media merchants recovering close to $100 million.

Through the integration, Recurly merchants can add local payment methods and expand into new markets without rebuilding their payment stack. Recurly also uses Hyperswitch’s Platform Organization mode to onboard and manage merchants across its portfolio programmatically, without added operational overhead.

“Subscription businesses need a payment infrastructure that is reliable and built to scale,” said Matt Healey, Director of Product Partnerships at Juspay. “Through Hyperswitch, we enable merchants to reduce payment friction, and expand into new markets without rebuilding their payment stack from scratch. Our partnership with Recurly brings these capabilities directly into the subscription management workflow, where payment performance matters most.”

“Flexibility and performance are non-negotiable for subscription businesses operating at global scale,” said Jonas Flodh, Head of Strategic Partnerships at Recurly. “By integrating Juspay Hyperswitch with Recurly’s platform, merchants gain access to best-in-class integrations in a vast payments network that will open up access to new payment methods and markets.”

The partnership reflects a broader shift in the subscription technology stack. As merchants come under pressure to reduce involuntary churn and improve recurring payment success rates, payment orchestration is taking on a more strategic role, moving beyond simple routing to become part of how subscription businesses manage retention. Open-source infrastructure is also gaining ground among enterprises seeking more control over their payment stack, rather than relying on a single processor’s fixed feature set.

Juspay processes more than 300 million daily transactions, with an annualised total payment volume exceeding $1 trillion. Recurly serves subscription and recurring-billing merchants across digital media, streaming, ecommerce, SaaS, publishing and consumer goods, including Paramount+, Alaska Airlines, Sling, FabFitFun and Sprout Social.
