Klarna payments will be automatically enabled for all the new merchants using the WooCommerce platform.
Klarna has expanded its partnership with Woo, an open-source e-commerce solution built on WordPress, to become a default payment method along with traditional card payments.
The two firms have been partners for almost seven years, offering integrated payment solutions to enhance the shopping experience for customers and merchants. Previously, Klarna was provided as an ‘alternative’ payment option, added at a retailer’s request. With the new collaboration enhancement, Klarna and WooCommerce further streamlined the integration process, making Klarna a payment network of choice for more than 4 million online shops powered by the Woo platform.
Founded in 2011, WooCommerce is a powerful and popular e-commerce platform that provides businesses with the tools to create customisable online stores, manage inventory, optimise SEO, and accept payments efficiently. The open-source platform offers free core software with paid extensions, including booking systems, memberships, advanced shipping options, and themes. WooCommerce integrates with major payment gateways, including Klarna, PayPal, Stripe, and local multi-currency options. It also has integrations with select email marketing, social media, and analytics tools.
Klarna significantly enhances WooCommerce by integrating its flexible payment options and improving the overall shopping experience for customers and merchants. Klarna provides consumers with various payment options, including instant payments, short-term interest-free “buy now, pay later” (BNPL) plans, and extended financing for longer terms.
Worldwide, approximately 30% of the payments Klarna handles are processed as immediate payments. However, the majority of the AI-driven fintech’s transactions are split into manageable instalments that boost affordability. That payment flexibility attracts budget-conscious shoppers, which, in turn, leads to higher conversion rates.
Klarna has been available as a dedicated extension for WooCommerce, making it simple to install and set up. The integration ensures a smooth “One-Click Checkout” experience, which simplifies the purchase process, reducing cart abandonment rates. Besides, merchants can customise the payment widgets to align with their store design and brand identity. Post-purchase options, such as easy returns and order management available through Klarna’s app are further leading to even higher customer satisfaction and loyalty.
“Offering flexible payments acceptance has become such an important tool for merchants to increase cart values and drive sales. We’re thrilled to partner more deeply with Klarna to give store owners easy access to buy now, pay later and other purchase financing options for their customers.”
