With a new partnership, Nexi Group and Zucchetti S.p.A., aim to redefine integrated payment solutions for Europe’s retail and hospitality sectors.

The next wave of payment innovation in Europe is being shaped at the intersection of software and financial technology. Nexi Group, the European PayTech, and Zucchetti, one of Italy’s leading software providers, have announced the expansion of their strategic partnership to deliver integrated payment solutions for retail and hospitality merchants.
The collaboration will see Nexi’s advanced payment acceptance capabilities embedded directly into Zucchetti’s software ecosystem, particularly TCPOS, the group’s trusted point-of-sale (POS) solution used by leading hospitality and retail players worldwide. The integration will first go live in Switzerland, with rollout across the DACH region to follow.
For years, payment acceptance and merchant software systems have evolved on parallel tracks. Hospitality and retail businesses often had to juggle multiple vendors for POS management, booking systems, and payment terminals — a model that slowed innovation and increased operational friction.
With this integration, Nexi and Zucchetti are trying to close that gap. The partnership is part of Nexi’s ISV (Independent Software Vendor) partner strategy, designed to bring payment solutions natively into the software environments merchants already rely on. This approach simplifies operations for merchants, enhances checkout experiences for customers, and accelerates the adoption of digital payments across Europe.
The timing of the partnership is no coincidence. Italy’s payments market, traditionally dominated by cash, is now experiencing a strong digital acceleration. Recent research indicates the Italian payments market is worth more than USD 420 billion and continues to grow at a double-digit annual rate.
The transformation is being driven by the rapid adoption of digital and contactless payments, especially in restaurants, hotels, and small retailers, increased consumer preference for mobile wallets and integrated checkout experiences, all coupled with regulatory and fiscal digitization that encourages electronic payments and reduces cash dependency.
While cashless payments are accelerating in Italy, many merchants still face persistent challenges. Fragmented legacy POS systems make integration of new payment methods costly and slow. Compliance and cybersecurity add operational complexity, while rising customer expectations are forcing even small venues to deliver a “frictionless” payment experience.
This is the environment where the Nexi-Zucchetti partnership can make a tangible difference. By embedding payments directly into Zucchetti’s software suite, the two companies aim to help businesses transition to a single, unified system that handles both front-end transactions and back-end payment processing seamlessly.
