The mentioned project of one of the main players in the chip manufacturing area is worth $200 million. Currently, it is known that the construction of the artificial intelligence center will be carried out within the framework of Nvidia’s cooperation with the Indonesian telecommunications giant Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison. Nowadays, the manufacturer of advanced chips implements a strategy to establish and scale operations in Southeast Asia.

Indonesian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Budi Arie Setiadi said that an artificial intelligence center will be built in the city of Surakarta in Central Java province. According to the minister, the operation of this facility will strengthen the bolster telecommunications infrastructure, human resources, and talents in the digital technology area.

Last month, Indosat announced its readiness to integrate Nvidia’s next-generation Blackwell chip architecture into its infrastructure. The company separately noted that this decision will help propel Indonesia into a new era of sovereign AI and technological advancement.

Indosat is the second largest mobile operator in the Asian country after merging with Qatar’s Ooredoo and Hong Kong’s CK Hutchison in 2022.

The expansion of Nvidia’s presence in Indonesia should be considered in the context of the broader company’s business development efforts in Southeast Asia. It is worth noting that currently there is an increase in demand for data in this region against the background of the rapid scaling of the digital economy.

In January, Singapore-based telecommunications provider Singtel announced a partnership with Nvidia. This provider stated that the goal of cooperation with the technology giant is to deploy artificial intelligence capabilities in data centers across Southeast Asia. This means the objects included in the Singtel ownership structure.
