Paystack new integration with Kenya’s real-time interbank network PesaLink unlocks direct bank payments 24/7, giving merchants faster cash flow and customers a simpler, card-free way to pay.

Payment platform Paystack has announced a strategic integration with Kenya’s real-time inter-bank transfer network PesaLink, enabling Kenyan merchants to accept instant bank-to-bank payments 24/7 through their Paystack Checkout or API.
Under this partnership, businesses in Kenya using Paystack will be able to offer customers the option to pay directly from their bank account, without cards or mobile money wallets, by selecting “Pay with PesaLink” at checkout. The flow works as follows:
-
The customer chooses PesaLink as the payment method.
-
They’re shown bank account details and a unique payment reference.
-
The customer logs into their bank’s app or USSD, initiates a transfer using the given details and reference.
-
Once the transfer is completed and matched via the reference, the payment is instantly marked successful.
PesaLink, operated by Integrated Payment Services Limited (IPSL), connects over 80 financial institutions in Kenya, enabling real-time interbank transfers around the clock, including weekends and holidays. The service supports transaction limits of up to KES 999,999 per transfer, making it suitable for a wide range of business use cases.
The partnership combines Paystack’s modern payment infrastructure with PesaLink’s robust domestic banking network to streamline digital commerce and improve business cash flow through faster settlements and enhanced transaction security.
With the new solution, Kenyan businesses can reach more customers, appealing to those who prefer bank-account payments over cards or mobile-money. Besides, direct bank-to-bank transfers reduce intermediary risk, enable faster reconciliation and reduce fraud potential.
This launch comes amid growing momentum for account-to-account (A2A) payments across Africa, as consumers increasingly seek alternatives to card-based and mobile money channels. By supporting PesaLink payments, Paystack strengthens its position as a key player in Africa’s transition toward instant, interoperable, and inclusive financial systems.
Merchants in Kenya can activate “Pay with PesaLink” directly from their Paystack Dashboard.
