SoftwareOne takes a major step toward a greener future as its greenhouse gas reduction targets receive official validation from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
SoftwareOne, a global provider of software and cloud solutions, has had its near-term greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets officially validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
Science-based targets are specific, measurable sustainability goals that companies set to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions in line with the latest climate science. They are designed to help limit global warming to well below 2°C, ideally 1.5°C, compared with pre-industrial levels, as outlined in the Paris Agreement. The SBTi evaluates these targets to ensure they are ambitious, credible, and aligned with scientific recommendations.
In its review, the SBTi confirmed that SoftwareOne’s Scope 1 (direct emissions), Scope 2 (indirect emissions from purchased energy), and Scope 3 (other indirect emissions, such as from supply chains and business travel) near-term targets meet these standards.
Specifically, SoftwareOne aims to:
-
Reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 42% by fiscal year 2030, using FY2024 as the baseline.
-
Reduce absolute Scope 3 emissions from fuel- and energy-related activities, waste from operations, and business travel by 25% over the same period.
-
Ensure that 75% of suppliers by emissions, covering purchased goods and services, capital goods, and upstream transportation, have science-based targets by FY2030.
More details on SoftwareOne’s targets can be found on the SBTi Target Dashboard.
Following SoftwareOne’s merger with Crayon to become a global, AI-powered software and cloud solutions provider on July 3, 2025, the two companies have opted to maintain separate science-based targets during the integration process. Crayon’s targets will be announced in a separate release on its website.
