Cross-Border Commerce Europe has made a ranking of marketplaces in Europe, based on their cross-border online sales in Europe, the SEO indicators for cross-border performance, a score determined on the number of covered countries and the number and percentage of cross-border visits, Ecommerce News reports.

The study uncovers some fascinating discoveries about the cross-border marketplaces operating in Europe. For example, 56 out of 100 online platforms sell B2C. And almost half of them have their own stock of products. Two in three are pure marketplaces that don’t sell their products, but only those of third parties. These are marketplaces like Discogs, Wish, Farfetch, and Bandcamp.

C2C marketplaces represent 36%, including Depop, Bump (both UK), Hood, Mobile.de, Rebelle (Germany), Delcampe (Belgium), Vestiaire Collective (France) and Marktplaats (the Netherlands).

Only 10% focus on auctions, like The Salesroom. And 41% of marketplaces sell second-hand goods, with Vinted as the clear leader.

Cross-Border Commerce Europe expects that online marketplaces will represent 65% of cross-border online sales in Europe by 2025. For 2019, this number was 59%, accounting for 84 billion euros out of 143 of total cross-border e-commerce in Europe worth.
