Amadeus will offer its customers BNPL services through ‘Fly Now Pay Later’ and ‘Uplift’ via the Amadeus Xchange Payment Platform. Now, airlines, travel agencies and hotels can add BNPL options to their sales channels via a single connection to Amadeus.

The company explains the move with strong customer demand. Namely, the company’s recent research with travelers showed that 68% would spend more on travel if BNPL options were available.

Now, US and Canadian travelers can choose to pay for their trip in a series of installments over six, nine or twelve months, making travel planning more flexible. This timely decision is very helpful to travelers across major economies which suffer from the looming recession and record inflation levels. Travel has long been a big-ticket item for consumers. This year, the cost of a trip increased with no slowdown in the near future.

Thus, CWT and the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) predict that airfares will rise by 48.5%in 2022, followed by an 8.5% increase next year. Hotel rates may experience an 18.5% jump this year and then a further rise of 8.2% in 2023.
