Apple Pay is now live in Malaysia. The contactless payment for Apple devices supports Mastercard and Visa cards issued by AmBank, Maybank and Standard Chartered Bank. The company plans to add support for American Express cards in Malaysia later this year.

Apple Pay enables customers to make secure, contactless purchases using Apple Cash, Apple Card, and other credit and debit cards added to Apple Wallet. The number of iPhone users globally that have activated Apple Pay is over 500 million.

Initially, merchants accepting Apple Pay payments in the country include KFC, Maxis, Machines, McDonald’s, Mydin, Pizza Hut, Starbucks, U Mobile, Uniqlo, Village Grocer and Watsons. Besides, a few apps and websites including Shopee, Sephora, Atome and Adidas, added Apple Pay support in Malaysia.

Earlier this year, the service went live in Moldova, Argentina, Peru and Armenia. On the other hand, we have previously reported that both Apple Pay and Google Pay suspended support for contactless mobile payments for Mir cardholders in Russia
