Launching in Australia is the latest expansion initiative of the Canadian fintech Nuvei as it continues to grow its presence and capabilities in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.

The company provides customised payment solutions for various industries, including high-risk ones like gambling and betting. Nuvei’s suite of payment solutions ranges from acquiring and processing to alternative payment methods like cryptocurrencies and risk management.

Following its successful launch in Singapore and Hong Kong in 2022, the company continued its global expansion with the Australian market. From now on, Australian businesses operating both locally and globally will benefit from Nuvei’s payments platform capabilities.

These enable businesses to optimize operating costs and boost conversion rates, maximize payment acceptance, minimise risks and enhance the consumer payment experience. Besides, the platform is offering all local and relevant globally-accepted payment methods.

While debit and credit card payments are the dominant online payment method of choice for Australian consumers, alternative payment methods are also getting more and more popular.

For instance, we have recently reported that global remittance provider Western Union has partnered with the Australian ethical lending fintech Beforepay to offer consumers an innovative credit solution ‘Send Now Pay Later’.

Therefore, Nuvei enables Australian businesses to accept all the popular payment methods in the region (such as using local currencies for cross-border transactions) in addition to providing the card-acquiring service.

This includes New Payments Platform (NPP), Australia’s account-to-account fast payments open access infrastructure. This real-time payment method is particularly relevant for industries where instant payouts are critical to the overall payments experience.
