The manufacturing companies and companies engaged in financial and insurance activities had the largest investment inflows
The Bank of Lithuania revealed that the flow of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the country amounted to €573.1 million in Q3 2019.
The largest investment inflows came from Luxembourg (€143.7 million), Sweden (€126.1 million) and Poland (€121 million). At the same time, the largest negative investment flows came from Hong Kong (-€46.4 million) and Australia (-€34.8 million).
Lithuanian cumulative FDI amounted to €18.2 billion, or 38.2% of GDP, as of 30 September 2019. Along with that, FDI per capita amounted to an average of €6,509 (as of 30 September 2018 – €6,088).
The report says the largest FDI in Lithuania came from Sweden (€3.1 billion), Estonia (€3 billion) and the Netherlands (€2.5 billion).
Since September 2019, companies engaged in financial and insurance activities were predominantly financed by investments from Sweden and Estonia.
