Mastercard and Bank of Kigali (BK) have launched a new campaign to encourage cashless payments.

The new campaign, Mu Munyenga na Mastercard, enables clients who undertake single transactions valued at Rwf 25,000 and more using the BK Mastercard to be eligible to win various rewards. This applies to purchases made via debit or credit cards on POS or online platforms.

Users stand a chance to win motorbikes, shopping vouchers, laptops, and a Mahindra KUV 100 NXT car. This is the grand prize in this campaign. However, BK staff cannot participate in the motorbike and the grand prize.

The more a customer pays cashless with Mastercard, the higher their chances of winning. With security guaranteed, consumers can now save time while making their purchases. Those without a bank account are encouraged to visit the nearest branch and open one.

The cashless campaign comes as the government encourages consumers to use cashless payment methods to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

We’ve reported that the Chinese government will fine Alibaba and Tencent’s e-book spinoff over failure to report previous acquisition deals for clearance.
