Nike-owned blockchain sneaker startup RTFKT Studios announced the launch of Cryptokicks iRL, a ‘phygital’ sneaker collection that will be sold as digital collectibles with physical counterparts.

The new collection is based on the previous RTFKT digital-only collection of customisable NFT sneakers. Web3 sneakers will incorporate blockchain with smart technologies, such as auto-lacing, enhanced lighting, haptic feedback, walk detection, and AI algorithms.

The physical counterparts will be limited to 19 000 pairs of sneakers in four unique colour combinations. Each collector will receive RTFKT’s WM Chip to link the digital and physical items. The draw to participate starts on December 7. Meanwhile, NFT minting will start on December 12-14.

This year, the NFT brand case study revealed that Nike was the leader in NFT sales revenues.

In addition, the apparel giant has recently announced the launch of the blockchain-enabled platform .Swoosh for Nike consumers interested in Web3. The platform will allow members to learn, collect and co-create virtual apparel and accessories worn in the metaverse.
