Kelly Passek, a middle school librarian, has teamed up with drone service Wing to deliver books to students of Montgomery County Public Schools in Christiansburg, VA via drones.

According to Pasek, she loves getting fresh pastries and home essentials delivered by drone.  But she wondered if this technology could also help kids checkout books due to the fact the libraries are closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Access to school library resources is essential for the success of our students. The MCPS-Wing partnership allows us the most unique way to continue to provide that access so that our students are able to stay engaged with independent reading and continue on their path of success even during this time of social distancing

The service has rolled out on a limited trial basis with Wing’s first deliveries, encouraging students to keep reading during the lockdown.

This way, the families of Montgomery County Public School students can request any book from the library’s catalog and have it delivered by drone to their yard for free.

We’ve reported that a total of 300,000 of the Nintendo Switch accounts were hacked, compared to 160,000 initially reported in April.
