Montgomery County Public Schools became the first in the world offering a library book drone delivery service
Kelly Passek, a middle school librarian, has teamed up with drone service Wing to deliver books to students of Montgomery County Public Schools in Christiansburg, VA via drones.
According to Pasek, she loves getting fresh pastries and home essentials delivered by drone. But she wondered if this technology could also help kids checkout books due to the fact the libraries are closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The service has rolled out on a limited trial basis with Wing’s first deliveries, encouraging students to keep reading during the lockdown.

We thought it was a great use of the technology, and today we officially launched the service with our first batch of book deliveries. Read more:https://t.co/BtqGe13kwT pic.twitter.com/ReGVrOxcBQ

This way, the families of Montgomery County Public School students can request any book from the library’s catalog and have it delivered by drone to their yard for free.
We’ve reported that a total of 300,000 of the Nintendo Switch accounts were hacked, compared to 160,000 initially reported in April.
