The payment provider is going to amaze football fans with new technologies including face payments and instantly-issued prepaid cards with animated art

Visa Fifa World Cup

Being an official payment technology partner of the upcoming Fifa World Cup 2022 in Qatar, Visa is using the platform for showing off new payment technologies.

As more than one million fans are expected to visit the tournament, Visa has prepared to accept a lot of payments. The company has already installed 5300 contactless-enabled payment terminals at official venues.

In addition, Visa’s cooperation with Qatar National Bank and POP ID will allow customers to authenticate their purchases with their faces at selected coffee shops.

Moreover, some cardholders in Doha can get instantly-issued digital prepaid cards by simply scanning a QR code. The cards will be featuring animated images of the tournament’s official mascot La’eeb.

Finally, Visa is taking care of the local merchants who’ll also face increased sales starting Sunday. The company is working with local banks to help SMBs accept contactless payments via NFC-enabled Android devices. Besides, it is also bringing tap-to-pay technology to taxi services.
