With Galaxy Unpacked just days away, Samsung Electronics is getting ready to unveil its much-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S26 lineup. What to expect from it? Faster chips or better cameras? Sure, that too. But this year, Samsung is specificlly doubling down on AI, visible privacy features and a reshaped performance strategy.

Galaxy AI Grows Up
One of the biggest updates coming to the S26 series is the expansion of Samsung’s Galaxy AI platform. In this realm, the tech giant goes far beyond smart suggestions or photo tweaks that might interest a routine user.

At the top of the range, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to carry Samsung’s strongest performance message. Despite developing its own processors, Samsung is sticking with Qualcomm’s newest premium chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, for the Ultra model. This chip has excellent graphic characteristics, fast processing capabilities, strong power efficiency, and a dedicated AI engine that lets features like camera enhancements, voice assistants, and predictive tasks work faster and smarter.
Meanwhile, the standard Samsung Galaxy S26 and Samsung Galaxy S26+ are rumored to revive Samsung’s dual-chip approach. Buyers in the U.S. and China are expected to get Snapdragon-powered models, while markets such as Europe, India and parts of the Middle East may receive devices running Samsung’s new 2nm Exynos 2600.
A Privacy Feature You Can Actually See While No One Else Can
Perhaps the most talked-about feature ahead of launch is Samsung’s new privacy display mode. Instead of focusing only on behind-the-scenes protections like encrypted backups or rotating Wi-Fi identifiers, Samsung is introducing something users can immediately notice: a screen setting that narrows viewing angles so only the person directly in front of the phone can read the content.
As smartphones increasingly bear more and more sensitive information, solving the issue of passers-by or fellow travellers on a public transport vehicle getting a full view of one’s private life might be a game-changer. It’s simple to explain. It’s easy to demonstrate. And that makes it powerful. While many privacy tools operate invisibly, this one changes how privacy looks altogether, and that may resonate strongly with everyday users. Besides, as of now, no major smartphone makers have released a feature exactly like Samsung’s new privacy display mode. Faster Charging, Familiar Battery, Softer Design
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is reportedly going to support 60W wired charging, which should reduce charging times, and is critical for consumers who are always on-the-go. However, despite earlier speculation, it’s now expected to keep the same 5,000 mAh battery rather than increasing to 5,500 mAh.
The base model may see a more noticeable shift, with its battery reportedly increasing to 4,300 mAh, up from 4,000 mAh previously — a significant bump that could make all-day usage more realistic for heavier users.
Design changes are also expected. The Ultra may move away from the sharp, boxy aesthetic inherited from the Galaxy Note era, aligning more closely with the rounded look of the rest of the S26 lineup. The goal appears straightforward: reduce the visual divide between consumer-focused and professional-style devices.
More Storage, No More 128GB
Another key shift that attracts user attention is storage. Samsung is reportedly dropping the 128GB entry option altogether. The standard S26 is expected to start at 256GB, with 512GB variants available. The Ultra could reach up to 1TB.
The move mirrors broader industry trends, including Apple’s decision to make 256GB the starting point for its iPhone 17 lineup, and boosts Samsung’s competitiveness in the smartphone market. Whether Samsung’s expanded storage tiers will affect pricing remains unclear at present.
