Prominent U.S.-based AI company Anthropic expands into Europe with new Paris and Munich hubs amid soaring growth

San Francisco-based Anthropic, the AI company behind the “Claude” LLM model, is making a major push in Europe with the launch of new offices in Paris and Munich. These hubs mark the next phase of the firm’s rapid expansion following earlier openings in Tokyo, Seoul, and Bengaluru, and reflect its ambition to scale operations across the EMEA region.
This growth surge comes as Europe has become Anthropic’s fastest-growing market: the company says its EMEA run-rate revenue has increased more than nine-fold over the past year, and the number of large business customers (with over $100 k annual spend) in the region has jumped ten-fold. Moreover, according to the Anthropic Economic Index report, many countries in Europe are leading in Claude adoption per working-age capita.
Anthropic provides state-of-the-art generative AI models and enterprise AI services that help companies in sectors ranging from manufacturing and consumer goods to digital platforms. Its solutions support tasks such as coding, troubleshooting, innovation workflows, and large-scale integration of AI into business operations.
The new European hubs will build on Anthropic’s existing presence in London, Dublin, and Zurich, and are intended to strengthen local leadership, accelerate go-to-market efforts, and deepen ties with European clients and partners. The Paris office will oversee “EMEA South” (France, Italy, Iberia, Middle East & Africa), led by former Google Cloud executive Thomas Remy, while the UK-based London team covers “EMEA North.” A dedicated leader for the DACH & CEE region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Central & Eastern Europe) will be appointed shortly.
Beyond commercial expansion, Anthropic is also investing in European research, talent development, and community engagement. In Germany, it’s collaborating with Light Art Space (LAS) and sponsoring AI-hackathons, while in France, it’s supporting local developer communities through planned 2026 events.
With this move, Anthropic aims to cement its position not just as a U.S. startup but as a truly global AI leader. As it scales in Europe, its enterprise AI offering, combining cutting-edge models with trust, safety, and local support, stands at the heart of its strategy for sustainable, large-scale adoption.
