Amazon Web Service (AWS) and venture capital company General Catalyst on Monday, January 13, announced a new multi-year partnership as part of their quest to form their own share in the growing market for artificial intelligence technologies intended for use in the healthcare area.
As part of the mentioned collaboration, the General Catalyst portfolio firms will leverage AWS services for faster building and rolling out of machine intelligence tools for health systems. The first two companies to participate will be Aidoc, which uses artificial intelligence in medical imaging, and Commure, which automates workflows by applying AI.
AWS and General Catalyst did not provide information about the financial details of their cooperation.
Chris Bischoff, head of global healthcare investing at General Catalyst, while speaking to the media said that without a strong partner like Amazon and AWS, it is not going to move as fast as the company hopes.
Recently, health systems in the United States have been facing difficulties related to staff burnout, growing labor shortages, and low margins. Technology startups see opportunities in the mentioned situation. These startups seek to interact with the multitrillion-dollar healthcare industry, which contains prospects for large financial returns.
It is worth noting that against the background of the active development of artificial intelligence and the scaling of the practice of using AI, the issue of cybersecurity has become more relevant. Scammers also use machine intelligence tools in their activities. To counteract the corresponding threat in the cyber environment, personal awareness of users is important. For example, an Internet search query such as how to know if my camera is hacked will allow anyone to get information about signs of unauthorized access to a personal device.
