Chargebase has introduced a new platform designed to help e-commerce and software-as-a-service businesses manage and prevent payment disputes before they escalate into chargebacks.

Chargebacks remain a recurring operational and financial challenge for online merchants. When customers dispute transactions through their banks, businesses typically lose the original sale amount as well as associated costs such as fulfillment, fees, and inventory. Elevated dispute ratios can also affect a merchant’s standing with payment processors.
The newly launched platform provides merchants with consolidated access to dispute alerts from Verifi and Ethoca, two major card-network monitoring systems that notify sellers when a customer initiates a dispute. These alerts allow merchants to issue refunds proactively, which can prevent a formal chargeback from being recorded.

According to the company, the system centralizes alerts from both networks into a single interface and automates parts of the response process. The platform matches alerts with corresponding orders and facilitates communication with the networks, reducing manual intervention typically required to manage disputes.
Chargebase offers features including automated workflows, configurable notifications, and integrations intended to fit existing merchant operations. The company states that its approach differs from traditional alert resellers by focusing on automation rather than simply forwarding notifications.

The platform uses a pay-per-alert pricing model. Merchants are charged only for alerts considered valid, with no setup fees, minimum commitments, or long-term contracts. Pricing varies depending on the network.
Chargebase reports that the service is now available to businesses of varying sizes and currently supports more than 20,000 merchants.
Founded to address operational complexities associated with dispute management, Chargebase aims to provide a centralized system for monitoring and responding to chargeback risks across multiple card-network channels.
