CrowdStrike Expands Identity Security with SGNL Acquisition

CrowdStrike, a U.S.-based cybersecurity company known for its cloud-native Falcon platform, is acquiring SGNL, a startup specializing in continuous identity security, in a deal reportedly valued at $740 million.

According to Reuters report, the acquisition is intended to expand CrowdStrike’s capabilities in real-time access management and threat detection across human, machine, and AI identities. The companies have not disclosed a final closing date, but media sources describe the negotiations as being at the advanced stage.

Founded in 2016, CrowdStrike’s Falcon platform protects endpoints, cloud workloads, and identities for thousands of organizations worldwide. Falcon is widely used in sectors where security and regulatory compliance are critical, including public sector, financial services, government, healthcare, logistics, manufacture, education, law, and technology, with over 6,000 customers globally and a particularly strong presence in the United States (over 60% of its customers). Financial institutions in particular rely on Falcon to manage complex access privileges, monitor real-time threat activity, and protect sensitive data across distributed workforces.

SGNL, founded in 2021, offers a platform that continuously and dynamically evaluates and enforces access permissions, rather than relying on static login credentials. Its technology is designed to address growing risks in hybrid and cloud-based environments, including access by autonomous AI agents and remote employees. By integrating SGNL’s continuous identity verification into Falcon, CrowdStrike aims to provide organizations, particularly in the financial services ecosystem, with enhanced real-time controls over who or what can access sensitive systems, mitigating credential abuse and insider risks.

CrowdStrike reported that its agentic security Falcon platform already supports large enterprises managing thousands of endpoints and identities, with recurring revenue exceeding $435 million from identity-focused services. Analysts note that financial institutions face heightened cybersecurity pressures, including regulatory compliance and the need to secure complex digital operations. The SGNL acquisition is intended to complement existing Falcon capabilities, particularly in real-time access and identity risk management, key areas for banks, payment providers, and fintech firms.

The deal also includes the SGNL team, who will join CrowdStrike, allowing for continuity of development and integration into the Falcon platform. While no official statement confirmed a closing date, both companies emphasized that the technology and expertise SGNL brings will be incorporated into CrowdStrike’s broader security offering.
