Dots Raises $8.9M Series A to Expand Global Payout Infrastructure and Fix Payout Layer

Global payouts startup Dots has secured $8.9 million in Series A funding, led by venture capital firm DCM with participation from Y Combinator, enabling the platform to move forward in scaling international payout infrastructure and product offerings.

Dots Raises $8.9M Series A to Expand Global Payout Infrastructure and Fix Payout Layer

The fresh capital brings Dots’ total funding to more than $14.6 million to date and will support plans for accelerated product development, international expansion, and expanded engineering talent focused on the company’s core mission: making payouts faster, simpler, and more reliable for global marketplaces and service-based businesses.

Fixing the “Broken Payout Layer”

While much fintech innovation over the past decade has centered on receiving payments, Dots argues that the real bottleneck lies in the payout layer — the systems that ensure money reaches contractors, creators, gig workers, and vendors.

“Everyone talks about the future of payments, but most of that innovation has focused on companies receiving payment, not paying others. The payout layer is broken, with companies and marketplaces having to reinvent the wheel to handle compliance, onboarding and cross-border disbursements. As a result, payments are slow.”

Sahil Hasan, co-founder and CEO of Dots

Dots aims to solve this fragmentation by unifying multiple payout rails under a single API, including traditional bank transfers, PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, and increasingly popular for this purpose stablecoins. This architecture means payees receive funds quickly, regardless of geography or preferred payment method — an important advantage for global platforms with diverse workforces and remote contributors.

Rapid Growth and Use Cases

Despite its early stage and less than five years of operations, Dots already processes over $150 million in payouts per month, representing strong early traction and growing adoption among businesses looking to streamline payouts at scale. The platform’s total payout totals reflect its emphasis on addressing real operational pain points in global disbursements, where delays or errors can erode trust with contractors and creators.

Investors see a significant opportunity ahead: the global payouts market is projected to triple by 2033, and the broader gig economy payments market alone already exceeds $580 billion, highlighting increasing demand for seamless payout solutions.

“Beyond the large and growing total addressable market, […] what makes Dots compelling is its focus on both the developer and payee experience,” said Ibrahim AlSuwaidi, partner at DCM. “When workers and creators actually want to get paid through your platform, the result is an engine that helps to not only address compliance and payments, but also retain the best talent.”

New Platform Features

Alongside the funding announcement, Dots revealed two major platform upgrades designed to expand its value proposition:

• Self-Service Model:
Dots’ platform now supports a fully self-serve onboarding and integration experience, allowing businesses to connect and begin sending payouts within hours rather than days. This reduces the dependency on professional services and simplifies the integration process for in-house teams.

• Dots Control Anti-Fraud Feature:
To help companies mitigate risk, Dots introduced an automated anti-fraud capability that identifies and stops suspicious payout activity based on customizable rules. For example, the system can flag inconsistencies such as a payee claiming to be U.S.-based but logging in from an international VPN.

These tools reflect Dots’ focus not only on speed but also on security and compliance — major priorities for enterprises operating across borders and different regulatory regimes.

Looking Ahead

With this Series A capital, Dots plans to continue expanding its product suite into adjacent payment flows including credit card processing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable, while also growing its engineering and product teams to support broader international uptake.
