Google’s digital wallet has become available to users of the services of this technology giant who live in India.
On Wednesday, May 8, the mentioned company announced the launch of the specified functional solution focused on meeting the needs of consumers related to financial activities in the virtual space, in the most populous country in the world. A message was published on the company’s blog, which notes that at the initial stage of the introduction of a digital wallet in India, Google will cooperate with more than 20 local brands. The technology giant noted that it is one of the widest ranges of partners for any such virtual platform in a South Asian country. The company also separately announced the expectation of expanding the scope of cooperation with Indian brands shortly.
It is known that brands such as PVR and INOX are already cooperating with Google as part of the implementation of the digital wallet. These partnerships, for users with devices running on the Android operating system, mean the ability to add movie or event tickets to their virtual wallets.
Google also cooperates with Indian brands such as Flipkart and Dominos. This interaction of the technology giant with local companies means that users can share digital versions of loyalty cards and gift cards.
Moreover, as part of the initial phase of the virtual wallet implementation in the South Asian country, Google is cooperating with Air India, Air India Express, and online travel firms like MakeMyTrip, Ixigo, and Easemytrip. This means that travelers will be able to easily save their mobile boarding passes and tap them in the mentioned service of the technology giant.
The company also announced that Google Wallet will allow Indian users to purchase and store public transport tickets, digitize physical documents, and apply Android smartphones instead of a corporate identification badge.
