Liquid AI, a startup operating in the area of generative artificial intelligence, announced on Friday, December 13, that it closed a $250 million early-stage funding round led by chip manufacturer Advanced Micro Devices (AMD).
It is worth noting that AMD is also a strategic partner of the mentioned startup.
Consumer generative artificial intelligence, which became the focus of global attention after OpenAI’s ChatGPT debuted in November 2022, is currently what can be described as a kind of main point in the process of high-intensity upward movement of the digital intelligence sector. Since the beginning of the current year, investors have made multibillion-dollar financial injections into startups operating in the area of generative machine intelligence.
ChatGPT, which became a kind of initial stage of the so-called artificial intelligence boom, impressed the consumer audience with a high level of abilities related to processing huge amounts of information and generating original content based on consumer prompts.
Liquid AI develops Liquid Foundation Models (LFMs). The startup claims that the corresponding artificial intelligence models are smaller and more efficient for enterprise use compared to traditional cloud-based offerings from OpenAI, AWS, and Google Cloud.
Liquid AI’s strategic collaboration with AMD will help the startup optimize LFMs with graphic, central, and neural processing units from the mentioned partner.
The funds received will allow Liquid AI to scale the infrastructure. Also, on the appropriate financial basis will be formed an opportunity to develop tailored LFMs for such industries as consumer electronics, telecommunications, biotechnology, e-commerce, and financial services.
